Giving Tuesday on BHI

November 28, 2017

The hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving is dwindling down. We have since seen Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. For all of those who were on the Island this Thanksgiving weekend we hope you found some wonderful gifts to bring back with you for the Holidays. After the “spending” days it’s important to remember #GivingTuesday and to give back to the non-profit organizations that help keep our Island the way it is today – thriving!

Bald Head Island Conservancy

Founded in 1983, the Bald Head Island Conservancy (BHIC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is “fostering community based barrier island conservation, education, and preservation”. Their staff along with the Island community work to keep Bald Head thriving and a place where folks can come to live with nature. The BHIC is looking to enhance their education programs moving into 2018, so that the community can become more involved with their efforts.

For #GivingTuesday, BHIC is asking for your support of their Sea Turtle Program! Your gift allows them to continue the protection of these wonderful creatures. To adopt a legacy turtle, a mother, or nest please click here or call 910-457-0089.

There are many ways in which you can help give back to the BHIC this #GivingTuesday. Find out more about How to Help here.

Old Baldy Foundation

It’s no secret that the Old Baldy Lighthouse is the mascot of Bald Head Island. It’s the most recognizable symbol for BHI and we are grateful for its 200 years on our Island. It’s safe to say though that keeping up a 200 year old building is not an easy task. The Old Baldy Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the Old Baldy Lighthouse.

Getting involved with Old Baldy is easier than climbing to the top! You can volunteer, purchase an annual pass, buy a brick, or donate directly.
