Rental Team910.470.0000 WWP Rentals
Wendy Wilmot Properties holds membership in the Vacation Rental Management Association on both the state and national level. Membership gives us access to updated industry information and valuable networking opportunities, promoting professionalism and sustainable company growth.
WWP’s new Rentals Manager, Joan Gerity, comes to us with years of experience in the property management world-most recently as the Broker in Charge of Corporate Rentals with Wilmington’s Sea Coast Rentals and, prior to that, as owner of NC Coast Properties.
Joan was born in Connecticut and grew up between there and Illinois, graduating from Bennington College in Vermont. Since then, she has lived in New England, New York and Florida. For the past 23 years, she has called Wilmington home.
When not working, Joan enjoys reading and theatre. She is most proud of her 15-year-old daughter, an accomplished dancer, who is currently studying at Harid Ballet Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida.
Tamara first fell in love with Bald Head Island when her family moved to the Island after her graduation from high school. Throughout her college years, Tamara worked on the Island at the BHI Club and the River Pilot Cafe.
After graduating from UNCW with a degree in English, she traveled around the world with her husband for eight months- visiting Europe, South Africa, Thailand and Indonesia. Shortly after their return to North Carolina, Steven and Tamara were married at the Bald Head Island Chapel and Tamara began working as a property manager. After the birth of her second daughter, Tamara joined Wendy Wilmot Properties' team handling the reservations for the rental homes. She has since been blessed with a baby boy, making her a wonder woman of family life! Her familiarity with the Island and houses, as well as having a personal understanding of family needs, are an asset in helping visitors find their ideal vacation homes!
Head of Housekeeping
Charlene, WWP’s Head of Housekeeping, is a true southern belle who was born in Dosher Hospital in Southport and has remained local her entire life. After graduating from South Brunswick High, Charlene worked as a cook for seven years before transferring to the Bald Head Island Club. During her ten years there, she rose to become the Supervisor over Housekeeping. She joined WWP in 2011.
Charlene has been married to her husband, John, for 30 years. They have three children-- two sons and a daughter-- and two granddaughters, Jasmine and Laura. Besides spending time with them, Charlene loves fishing, horseback riding and reading.
Charlene first came to the Island over 25 years ago, but she says she is still amazed by the uniqueness of Bald Head. “You will never find anything like this anywhere else in the world,” she shares with a smile. (We believe she’s right!)
Don was born in Chardon, Ohio and his family moved south when he was young. After school, Don joined the construction industry, working with firms such as Floral Daniels as well as in his own businesses. He joined WWP as Head of Home Services in 2013.
Don is married to his wife of 20 years, Shareen, and they have two children-Cody and Sierra. They live in Southport with their Italian Greyhound, Diesel. (Diesel’s name hints at Don’s hobby-collecting cars!)
Don first came to Bald Head in 2001 and was struck by its quiet peacefulness. He’s pleased to be working here and getting a chance to be on the Island every day.
Joe was born and raised in and is still a native of Southport. He attended South Brunswick High and Cape Fear Community College before working for 30 years in local chemical plants. He simultaneously owned small businesses (including one he still runs that clears land). He joined WWP in 2016 as part of the Maintenance and Home Services teams.
Joe is proud of his several grown children as well as his 30 years of service as a volunteer firefighter for the Southport Fire Department.
Joe first came to Bald Head in the ‘70’s as a Boy Scout. A self-proclaimed “outdoor person”, Joe loves the Island’s nature and has enjoyed watching all the changes on Bald Head over the past 40 years.
Jennifer was born and raise in Charlotte, NC but always dreamed of living near the ocean. She attended Belmont Abbey College and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Accounting.
While living in the Charlotte area, Jennifer was able to work in a wide range of industries where she gained over 18 years of experience in her profession.
In 2016, her dream of living near the ocean became a reality! Her husband, Pat, was offered a position to work out of Wilmington, NC. Jennifer and her family quickly agreed to make the decision of a lifetime and trade in city-life for salt-life. Oak Island is now home to Jennifer, her husband and their four children. Together as a family they enjoy surfing, boogie boarding, fishing and just about any outdoor activities that involve the sand and surf.
Marketing & Administrative Support
F.A. is starting her seventh year as a Bald Head Islander. Prior to retiring here, she lived in Atlanta for 32 years with her husband and five children and enjoyed a career as an elementary teacher and principal as well as a college professor. Before her calling in education, F.A. worked on-air for NBC news, in marketing as a video writer and producer and in advertising-culminating her work in this field as the Advertising Director for a large business products firm. Her job with WWP hearkens back to her marketing days and allows her to once again enjoy honing her craft.
F.A. loves being with friends and family-especially her six grandchildren- and finds Bald Head her happy place for enjoying these along with tennis, swimming, volunteering and the beautiful outdoors!
