I hope you had an extraordinary Independence Day Holiday! The Island was hopping and I honestly don’t remember a year that presented us with better weather. It was just perfect. The Conservancy picnic was a fun event as always, and the parade was a hit. There were so many fun designs and several people took the opportunity to use the parade to get out their own environmental message in a fun way.

Watching the community enjoy events together reminds me about all the things I love so much about being on Bald Head Island. Fun community, family memories, and beautiful Island environments are just a few of those things that I want to share with you.

Having so many fantastic deals right now can make this a possibility, but waiting too long may find you missing out on all of the fun and memories. Interest rates won’t stay low much longer and prices are just right. Call me.... let’s gets to work on bringing you home!

Association Meeting – Open House Signage

This Friday, July 9^th at 1:00PM, there will be a meeting at the Association Building, which the public may attend. WWP will be there and, for a third time, will be requesting a variance concerning the use of directional signs for Open Houses that are off the main roads.

In this tough market, we need all the help we can get, and homes that lay “off the beaten path” receive no Open House attention, because there is little we can do to show that they can be visited. This is also an issue with homes that are for sale by owner. If you are selling your own home without the assistance of an agent, you have no way to let would-be clients / buyers know that your home is there. To solve this issue, we would like to be able to display a professional directional sign during the posted Open House hours, and then pick them up immediately when the home is closed.

We encourage all who can attend to be there and voice your concern. If you cannot attend this Friday, please send us an email letting us know your position on allowing directional signs to display a home as being an Open House. We thank you for your support.

McIntyre Opposes the Port

Please attend a reception for the Honorable Mike McIntyre, Member of the United States House of Representatives for our 7^th District of North Carolina. As a ranking Member of the House Committee on Armed Services, Congressman McIntyre is very familiar with procedures the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers follows in mitigating beach erosion and other problems that navigation projects can and do create for adjacent communities. He is also very familiar with Bald Head’s specific challenges and has been our ally in Washington for years.

The reception will be held at the home of Adie Coy, 710 Shoals Watch near the Shoals Club on Saturday, July 10 from 5:00 to 6:30. The cost to attend is $150 per person. There are also sponsorships at levels of Platinum $2000, Gold $1000, Silver $500 and Bronze $250 which cover attendance of a couple. Please make checks out to: “Mike McIntyre for Congress”.
