 Erosion & Bill...

With Hurricane Bill passing by us, and a lunar moon tugging at our tides, Bald Head Island saw a bit more erosion than usual this past weekend.  Bald Head Island is continuing to consult with the Army Corps of Engineers concerning the current dredging in relation to our erosion issues.

Election time...

Please do not forget to cast your vote this fall in the BHI Elections. If you are not currently registered to vote, or your voting status is now “Inactive”, please make sure to get registered or re-registered. Every vote makes a difference.

Beach Music Extravaganza...

School is officially back in swing and last minute vacationers are taking advantage of the End-of-Summer rental deals.  September will be ushered in via live music, wine, food, and good times to be had by all. Join Bald Head Island for the Beach Music Extravaganza, September 4 – 6. Live entertainment with The Band of Oz, The Castaways, The Craig Woolard Band, and The Catalinas. The Shrimp-A-Roo, Labor Day Picnic, and Texas BBQ will be held at the Harbourside Pavilion, and the Labor Day Party will be at the Shoals Club.

Get Involved...

September 19^th all Island residents and visitors are encouraged to get out at 9 AM to help clean and refresh our beautiful Island after the summer rush has begun to settle. We will be meeting at the Fire Station, where coffee and doughnuts will be available, for assignments. You will need to provide your own gloves, and a prize will be awarded for the most unusual litter found. When we are all finished, let’s meet at the Sunset Beach Party at Access #24 at 7PM for a little relaxation!

Wine & Food Weekend...

Wrapping up September’s festivities will be Bald Head Island Food & Wine Weekend, packed with fun, food, wine, and laughter. Among the participating wineries are Childress, Silver Coast Winery, Duplin Winery, Biltmore Winery, Ragapple Winery, Chatham Hill Winery, RayLen Winery, and Hinnant Winery. Each will provide a vast selection of robust flavors and samples of some of our finest wines available.

Get Your Reels Ready...

September 30^th will mark the 3^rd annual BHI Red, Whiting, and Blue Surf Fishing Contest, from 10 AM until 1 PM. Prizes for longest Red Drum, Whiting, and Bluefish caught. Great day of fishing will be followed by Dinner and Awards Ceremony.
