Register Your Cart Before December 31st … Online!

 

Public Safety has begun issuing Golf Cart Registrations. Current registrations expire on December 31st, so please make sure that you get re-registered BEFORE then.  Proof of liability insurance will be required at time of registration. You need to include the cart’s make/model, serial number, effective policy dates and numbers, as well as the name of the insuring agency. New proof of insurance is required with current activation dates. For convenience, you can fax your paperwork to the Department of Public Safety at 910-457-4585 prior to registration.

FIRST TIME REGISTRATIONS:

 

The initial registration of a golf cart (first time on island, initial application)  must be completed at the Department of Public Safety with staff.  Measurements of the cart must be taken to reflect current village ordinance. Cart must meet requirements as specified in village ordinance. Staff shall affix a numbered sticker to the lowest, most clearly visible point on the front left-side of the electric cart and one sticker on the rear of the electric cart. The small yearly sticker will be placed on the surface of the registration sticker in the bottom corner.

 

Per Village Ordinance, liability coverage must be provided during registrations. The coverage must meet the standards set by the NCDMV.  This can be accomplished by the golf cart owner attesting to said insurance requirements by providing the company and policy number and signing affirming same. No part of a first-time registration can be completed online.

 

You may register your golf cart for the $15 annual fee at the Department of Public Safety Monday thru Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. After hours or weekend registrations can be arranged via appointment by calling 910-448-1252.

Economic Incline on the Horizon?

 

On December 2nd, Catherine Rampell wrote a column in the New York Times entitled: Jobless Rate Dips to Lowest Level in More Than 2 Years. The report highlights that the US unemployment rate dropped to 8.6%, making this the lowest rate in 2.5 years. Also reported by the Labor Department that employers nationally have added 120,000 jobs in November alone, which the previous two months’ actually being higher than initially reported as well. Also reported via the NY Times on December 8th via Reuters is that the Jobless Claim Rate (people currently filing for unemployment) is at a 9 month low as of this past week, lending strength to the earlier opinions that the labor market is strengthening and in repair.

 

The BHI market has strengthened as well. At this moment, the Island has seen 101 sales for 2011. The last year to see sales at this number was 2006, at which time 105 properties were sold. Common opinion is that we will surpass that number by close of business day on December 31st. WWP itself has several properties in the works to close by end of year!
