Possible Excess Baggage Fees

 

The past two weeks has seen discussions on BHI about Transportation’s decision to  petition the Utilities Commission for approval of an Excess Baggage fee for passengers to and from BHI. Below is an excerpt from the BHA sent out on the 24th. Please make sure that you are familiar with the issue at hand… we will keep everyone updated as we hear more.

 

 

“In an effort to improve on-time performance of its ferries, BHI Transportation filed on Monday, Feb. 20th a request with the NC Utilities Commission to clarify conditions related to transporting baggage on its ferries. Specifically, among other things, the application limited the number of checked items allowed per passenger to three, required that each item have a closed, affixed lid and established a $23 fee for each additional item beyond the limit.

After discussions with BHI Limited CEO Chad Paul, Bald Head Association leadership and the Village mayor about how the new restrictions would impact property owners in particular, BHI Transportation is amending its application today to allow double the number of checked items (total of 6 per person) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and a two week comment period for public input.
