Arrr.... Shut yer
windows, lock yer doors, and best ye hide all yer loot mates... the
Pirates are coming to Bald Head Island!
Pirate Weekend is held on BHI every year in
celebration of National Lighthouse Day. Fun family adventure, a pirate
invasion, great food, and a swashbuckling good time awaits locals and
visitors alike. Make sure that you have made time in your calendars to be
on-Island from August 6 – 8... you wouldn’t want to miss the fun and
memories of this fantastic weekend.
Also...... A drawing will be Saturday night at August
7th. The Grand Prize is a hand
stitched crazy quilt, entitled “Still Crazy After All These Years.” The elaborately
embroidered blocks, containing swatches of donated fabric from the Bald
Head Island community, paint a vividly colorful tale of the crazy stories
and eventful history of Bald Head Island. A first edition book, which the
winner will also take home, details all of these stories.
The other prizes
all have a connection to the lighthouses that have been on Bald Head
Island:
- a Rena Powell
MacQueen oil painting of Old
Baldy
- a 360 degree
panoramic photo from the top of Old Baldy
- a framed
historical document and photo
collage of the 1794 Bald Head Lighthouse
- a print of the
Cape Fear Light station
You
do not need to be present to win, but you will be missing so much
unforgettable fun if you are not there!
Tickets
are 10.00 each. All proceeds go to benefit Old Baldy.
