Dave
Shadday
Most of you know
Dave Shadday – upbeat optimist, avid golfer, friend to all. Over
the past year, we have all watched Dave’s health decline rather rapidly,
to the point that he was told that he needed a lung transplant. Dave was
able to get his affairs in order very quickly and move near Duke
Hospital, where for the last few months he has undergone a barrage of
testing, medications, and physical therapy to prepare him for the
transplants that would hopefully save his life. He has had many
close calls and scares, but through it all he has kept a positive
attitude.
A
few weeks ago, it happened – a lung for Dave! He was able to get the lung
transplanted successfully and has begun the rough journey to recovery.
After the pains of surgery and discomforts of being in ICU where he got
little rest or food between tests, therapy, and medications, Dave’s
morale had begun to drop last week. It has been painful and frustrating
for Dave, as well as his friends and family, to see him suffer.
However,
the past few days have seen an enormous improvement in Dave’s attitude
and personal motivation. He has chosen to get out of the bed and walk,
and seems to be slowly returning to his normal “can-do” self. We
all want to see him get stronger quickly, and maintaining a positive
attitude will play a major role in doing so. We encourage everyone
to send Dave a card, a text, and maybe even a photo of you on the Island
or playing golf. Let’s keep him connected to Bald Head Island and
give him something to look forward to!

Wounded
Warriors

This
was the third year for Wounded Warriors and it was another success. The
personally moving event touched the hearts of those in attendance and
prompted us to appreciate the many freedoms we exercise at the expense of
those fighting for it. Please click

Open
House Caps Banned
in
Stage II
The Stage II
Association recently informed WWP that they would no longer allow real
estate agents or owners to use the dark blue “ Open House” bollard caps
on homes in Stage II.
While
this has not been an issue for the past ten years and has been used by
all real estate companies, Cindy Capps, Secretary of the Stage II Association,
informed us that this is a covenant restriction and that if a real estate
agent violates this covenant, a letter will go to the property owner.
Below is the language of the restriction.
Per
the Association:
“As stated in the
Protective Covenants of Stage Two Association, recorded in Book 1045,
Page 676, Brunswick County Registry, in Paragraph 20, Page 12 “no
commercial signs, including “For Sale” or “For Rent” signs shall be
erected or maintained on any Lot or on the Common Properties nor shall
any such sign be allowed within any Living Unit or structure if readily
visible from any Living Unit or street.” Placement of “signage” on
Stage Two properties is in clear violation of the Covenants for Stage Two
Association of Bald Head Island.
The Association
will provide a copy of the letter notifying property owners of the
violation to the real estate agent; however, the Association will look
to the property owner to ensure compliance.”
We
will continue to hold Open Houses without the dark blue caps in Stage II,
so when you see a yellow cart please stop in! Please feel free to contact
us. Or call Cindy Capps or Joyce Fulton, President of the Stage II
Association, at 910-457-5000.
